Reverse Gear Problem

jeff day 16 Aug at 4:00 pm. I have just had a new clutch kit put in to my r380 defender along with new rear main oil seal .the gear selection before this was no problem, but i now find it very difficult to select gears especially reverse :this kit was installed by landrover mechanics and has them baffled as well .it is tight at idle at say traffic lights.no problem when the engine is off ...5 volts to the RCM through the (TN) wire. The RCM activates the reverse control solenoid. The control solenoid activates the reverse motor solenoid causing the reverse motor to engage and the vehicle to back up. Reverse is disabled for any of the following conditions: Reverse switch on LHCM is released. • Transmission is shifted into gear. · Had this problem myself a lot, Reverse gear feels like its there and when i release the clutchm no mocment jsut grinding noise. On another note, i also soemtimes have an issue moving into first gear wjeem coasting into a set of lights. feels liek it gets half way and just stops. i wait for teh car to slow a bit more and it seems to go in fine.

 · Both the 4L60E and 4L60 have the same number of gear ratios as well as the same number of gears. Common 4l60e Transmission Problems Below is a partial list of some of the most common 4L60E transmission problems: Slipping, Slow or No Reverse Available Many owners find that the "lo-reverse" clutches are beat up or worn out. · The loader lift arms drift down quickly about 2-3 inches when the control lever is released. After the initial quick 2-3′ drop the cylinders continue to slowly leak down. I repacked the cylinders about 4 years ago (100 hours) using genuine Case kits. The loader has always drifted down slowly I just assumed it was a leaky hose.A gear drive is one part of a power system which has certain load characteristics peculiar to the specific application. The gear drive package itself is a subsystem within the overall system and in addition to transmitting the load demands of the overall system, it is subject to additional load variations generated or contained within itself.

Transmission May Fail Causing Slipping in First or Reverse

 · Reverse Gear impossible I have my first brand new class B, jsut 4 miles out of the seller, it showed the "reverse gear impossible, return to factory", after they have check for one hours and there's no result. And I got the same message several times, they found nothing either, if some knows about the problem, please tell me. thanks · A worn reverse gear can also occur when a transmission is mishandled. If the fluid in a transmission is not properly maintained, sludge will build up. This causes unnecessary friction between the gears, which results in eventual wear. The gears then lose the ability to smoothly shift. Repair requires the transmission to be fully rebuilt. · Transmission May Fail Causing Slipping in First or Reverse Gear on Chrysler Town & Country Problem Description If the transmission is slipping in first gear or Reverse—or if you experience delayed or loss of gear engagement after initial startup—the transmission may ….

Transmission Problems

 · The reverse solenoid was not making any clicking noise but the forward one was. I unplugged the 2 wire plugs that connect to each of the solenoids and reversed them so forward on the shuttle shift would energize the reverse solenoid and reverse the forward solenoid - the machine then would reverse but not go forward. ·  · Reverse Gear impossible I have my first brand new class B, jsut 4 miles out of the seller, it showed the "reverse gear impossible, return to factory", after they have check for one hours and there's no result. In some cases, specific gears may simply refuse to engage. For example, if your vehicle is only able to shift to "Drive" and not "Reverse" successfully, then there could be a problem with the valve body. The valve body acts as the nerve centre of the automatic transmission.

Transmission Problems: Unable to go into Reverse

 · The R gear on manual transmissions is cut differently (this is true on most cars) it is straight cut instead of helical and sometimes you can run into some minor meshing problems. My car has never really given me similar problems so if the above doesnt help, barring some defect, I would say you need to grow some pipes. · Had this problem myself a lot, Reverse gear feels like its there and when i release the clutchm no mocment jsut grinding noise. Figure 1: Solenoids on a 5R110 transmisssion. If you have no codes, move on to step 2. Step 2 - Check selector lever cable. The gear selector in your truck is connected to the transmission via a cable. · This mode will lock the transmission in second or third gear and you will be unable to move it. This feature was designed to guard the transmission until the driver reaches an auto repair shop where the problem is typically diagnosed. Driving the car in limp mode is considered risky since drivers will be unable to speed down the highway.

Volkswagen Golf

 · Started the engine put the reverser in forward put the tansmission in first gear and the machine goes forward and when placing the transmission in reverse it goes backward. If you place the reverser in reverse it does nothing. the machine makes a high winding pump sound coming from the bell housing and/or the reverser. · While simple and generally reliable, Mitsubishi automatic transmissions can develop problems, especially at high mileage or if it is CVT transmission. If your Mitsubishi has developed erratic shifting or won't shifting at all, it can indicate a serious problem such as faulty valve body, worn bands, faulty transmission speed sensor, torque converter, or something as simple as low transmission ... · Volkswagen Golf

 · Problem is still there. With the gear box in neutral and rpm around . I shift the reverser into reverse and the engine will load up and will stall unless I step on the clutch. If I shift the reverser forward, it will not load up and actually I can hear … · This article applies to the F-150 (-) and F-250 (-). You know it's not going to be a good day when you leave the store, get in your F-150 or F-250, and suddenly the transmission doesn't want to shift into reverse. · Problem is still there. Why does my car make a loud whirring noise in reverse

 · Transmission is most likely to be the culprit for the car wont move in drive but will in reverse problem. When the vehicle does not function in one or more gears, you should check the gear shifter. The gear cable could be stretched further than the normal length and requires adjusting. The failure of some internal components can be the cause too. · I looked at the dana 20 transfer case ( run in reverse)and if the case is shifted in rear drive high gear rearwheeldrive the drive is straight through to an auto differential ( a slide gear locks the input and output into one straight through shaft) the other gears have no load on, but if shifted into frontdrive only high gear, the gears are spinning in reverse . since this front drive output ...The only problem with helical gears is that it is hard to slide them in and out of engagement with each other. On a manual transmission the forward gears stay engaged with each other at all times, and collars that are controlled by the shift stick lock different gears to the output shaft (see How Manual Transmissions Work for details). The reverse gear on your manual transmission uses an idler.
